SWIOFP Observer Training

CapFish is currently running a training course for International Observers for the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Project (SWIOFP). The course, based at the Ushaka Aquarium in Durban is being led by Dr Johan Groeneveld of the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR). CapFish is proud to be associated with this programme which aims to develop and conduct research on fisheries in the South West Indian Ocean. Observers from 8 countries are being trained including Comores, Mauritius, South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Seychelles and Madagascar. The course ends on 8 September and includes training in fisheries management basics, ecosystem approach to fisheries (EAF) run by WWF, Marine mammals, sharks, and off course - Fisheries.
